4.8 Material damage
Warning! Follow the instructions given
below to prevent material damage.
Never operate the slow cooker without
water. This could cause it to overheat.
For the same reason, never operate the
slow cooker without the cooking pot 4 in
place .
•The lid 1 and the cooking pot 4 are
breakable. You should therefore treat
them with care.
•The lid 1 and the cooking pot 4 are
liable to crack if subjected to sudden
temperature changes. You should
therefore always let them both cool
down before immersing them in water.
•The lid 1 and the cooking pot 4 are not
suitable for searing or for use in the
oven, microwave, freezer or plate
warmer.
Always place the appliance on a level,
dry, non-slip surface to stop it tipping
over or sliding off.
Do not place the appliance on top of a
hot hotplate.
The appliance and accessories may not
be put in a microwave oven.
If you serve the finished dish in the hot
cooking pot 4, place a heat resistant
table mat underneath it to prevent
marking the table top.
5. Unpacking and setting up
Note: As the appliance is supplied with a
thin film of grease, there might be a small
amount of smoke and odour the first time
it is used. This is not harmful and will stop
after a short while. Please ensure adequate
ventilation during this process.
1. Remove the individual parts from the
packaging.
2. Check that the individual parts are all
present (see “1.2 Scope of supply” on
page 44) and are undamaged.
3. Clean the appliance thoroughly before
using it for the first time (see
“10. Cleaning” on page 53).
4. Place the appliance on a level, dry, non-
slip surface so that the appliance can
neither fall over nor slide off.
5. Stand the cooking pot 4 in the base 6.
6. Pour half a litre of water into the cooking
pot 4.
7. Place the lid 1 on the cooking pot 4.
8. Insert the plug into a suitable earthed
socket (see “3. Technical data” on
page 45).
9. Turn the control knob to the 8 setting
HIGH”.
The indicator light will 7 come on and
the appliance will begin heating up.
10.Allow the appliance to operate switched
on for approximately 60 minutes.
11. Switch the appliance off by turning the
control knob 8 to “OFF”.
12.Disconnect the mains plug.
13.Let the appliance cool down and then
clean it again (see “10. Cleaning” on
page 53).
The appliance is now ready to use.
